Endoluminal Procedure Using Radiofrequency for Varicose Vein Treatment

Abstract
Purpose: To determine the validity of endoluminal obliteration procedure using radiofrequency in the management of greater saphenous vein varicosity.
Method: Between June 2000 and August 2002, we operated 42 patients of greater saphenous vein varicosity using radiofrequency generator without high ligation of saphenoufemoral junction. The patients were 29 females and 13 males (23 right, 19 left limbs). The mean age was 52.2¡¾11.2 years and mean follow-up interval was 13.7 months.
Result: Immediate postoperative complications were paresthesia and mild tenderness of upper thigh, but there were not skin burn and recurrence or long-term complications.
Conclusion: We conclude the endoluminal obliteration procedure using radiofrequency was effective and safe in treatment of greater saphenous vein reflux.
